ArcelorMittal Poland informs that following the decision to permanently cease production at Huta Królewska in Chorzów, it has made arrangements with the social partners on measures to mitigate the effects of this decision on the employees of this branch.
“As we have already informed, our goal is to offer all employees jobs in our units in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Świętochłowice or Sosnowiec. We have already started individual talks with employees. Those with whom we have already spoken declare their willingness to continue their employment at ArcelorMittal Poland”, informs Stanisław Ból, HR director at ArcelorMittal Poland.
At the request of the employees of the Chorzów branch, ArcelorMittal Poland will organise transport from Chorzów to other locations of the company, and will pay a lump sum of PLN 300 gross per month to those who want to use public transport or their own means of transport. It will also cover the costs of training and reskilling necessary for the new job position.
The agreement also provides for the payment of special severance payments to employees who will soon acquire pension rights and decide to terminate their employment contract by agreement of the parties. These severance payments will also include compensation for retirement and disability benefits and a jubilee bonus.
"I would like to thank the employees of Huta Królewska for their openness to change and readiness to accept our job offer in other locations, and our social partners for immediately joining in the development of solutions for employees and quickly agreeing on them. We agreed on the provisions of the agreement in just three days," adds Stanisław Ból.
The parties to the agreement have also agreed that the implementation of its provisions will be monitored on an ongoing basis.
