ArcelorMittal Poland for future drivers

Thanks to a donation from ArcelorMittal Poland a new modern motor vehicle workshop with driving simulators has been opened in the Centre for Vocational and Continuing Education (CKZiU) in Sosnowiec. The official ribbon cutting was conducted by Karolina Muza-Adamiec, Head of Corporate Responsibility, ArcelorMittal Poland and Jacek Górski, director of CKZiU in Sosnowiec.

- I chose this school because I want to become a car mechanic. The motor vehicle workshop is the perfect place for me and my classmates. We are very happy because our teacher explains very well every theoretical aspect and now with the new equipment we will be also able to practice and understand what he says fully – says Kacper Olejnik, high-school student in CKZiU in Sosnowiec.

The new modern motor vehicle workshop, thanks to a donation from ArcelorMittal Poland, was launched at the beginning of March. The official ribbon cutting was conducted by Karolina Muza-Adamiec, Head of Corporate Responsibility, ArcelorMittal Poland and Jacek Górski, director of CKZiU in Sosnowiec.

This new workshop meets the market needs and will help students to become professional drivers and car mechanics of vehicles of 3.5 tonnes or above. The classes in the Centre include: theory of car traffic, record-keeping of vehicle use and documentation in transport company,  tachographs usage, transport policy in Poland and the European Union.

Nowadays, truck drivers have to meet new technical, business and logistical requirements and graduates of CKZiU in Sosnowiec are getting better educated.

The donation from ArcelorMittal Poland helped to purchase professional hardware, including driving simulator, tachograph simulator and dedicated software. The workshop was also equipped with 6 new workstations with audio systems and new electricity and internet networks. Future drivers can also benefit from educational aids, such as: drivers’ documentation, logbook documenting hours and kilometres, analogue tachograph charts, literature for truck drivers, including maps and road atlases of Poland and Europe.

Road traffic regulations are equally important, that is why the new workshop was equipped with new road signs boards, spatial models and simulators of traffic and junctions.

- I cannot wait to attend classes in this new and modern workshop. The most exciting for me are virtual driving simulators and educational spatial models with removable elements to simulate road situations. I hope I will learn how to drive safely and become a good professional driver. It is great to have this modern workshop to learn the profession I chose – underlines, Kacper Olejnik.

The motor vehicle workshop was also furnished with new computer chairs and desks.
