Environment

Reducing the impact on the natural environment is one of our priorities. We are aware of the importance of a responsible approach to production, taking into account the impact of industrial plants on the environment, which is why we work intensively to minimize our impact on the quality of the environment.

How are we operating?

In implementing plans related to minimizing the impact on the natural environment, we use World Class Manufacturing (WCM) methodologies - pillars: environment and social responsibility and cost analysis.

We also conduct detailed risk analyzes of all processes in the field of environmental protection, monitor the results of their operation and work on increasing their effectiveness. Each of our plants is periodically subjected to internal audits and an annual assessment of compliance with legal requirements regarding the energy sector.

We have an environmental protection laboratory to precisely measure all indicators related to our environmental impact, as well as monitor our plants and prepare diligently for communication with stakeholders. These laboratories are properly accredited to meet the ISO/IEC 17025:2028-02 standards.

Sustainable development is a very capacious concept, which, in addition to focusing directly on people, also assumes a responsible approach to production. As part of this holistic concept, as one of the industry leaders, we focus our efforts on reducing our impact on the natural environment” - Sanjay Samaddar, chairman of ArcelorMittal Poland

In our largest units: in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Zdzieszowice and Kraków, we also use the Process Safety Management System, which results from the Environmental Protection Law. The environmental performance of the entire company is audited each year through internal inspections, inspections by environmental authorities, and external audits by independent certification bodies.

In planning activities based on the highest standards, we are assisted by the Integrated Management System, which includes e.g. - Environmental Management System according to ISO 14001:2015, - Energy Management System according to ISO 50001:2018, - Process Safety Management System (in the areas of High Risk Plants) according to the requirements of the Environmental Protection Law.

Our pro-ecological activities

We try not to limit our activities in the field of environmental protection to those related to investments and compliance with laws, we want to shape the right attitude among our employees and neighbors. That is why we are very eager to join and even initiate actions to clean green areas, plant trees, collect waste paper or even replace coal stoves.

Eco Ambassadors

In order to actively participate in the dialogue with all those interested in our impact on the environment and pro-ecological activities, ArcelorMittal Poland has appointed Eco-ambassadors who will answer questions and clarify any doubts.
