ArcelorMittal Poland postpones the restart of the blast furnace in Kraków

ArcelorMittal Poland informs that it has decided to postpone the restart of the blast furnace at its Krakow plant.

The decision not to restart in the second half of March, as originally planned, results from the uncertainty resulting from the spreading of the COVID-19 in Europe and the unpredictable situation that lies ahead of us. We observe that several customers are closing operations or reducing off-take.

- We need to take full responsibility for our employees and our operations. Taking into account the uncertainty we are faced with and the fact that we have no visibility regarding the impact of the transmission of COVID-19 in Europe, this is the only right decision to be taken. At the same time, I would like to underline that we are monitoring the developments closely and that we stand by our earlier declarations regarding the restart of the installations in Kraków when normalcy is restored – comments Marc De Pauw, CEO and chairman of the Board of ArcelorMittal Poland.
