ArcelorMittal is a strategic supplier of BP2 for XCarb® steel for the integrated photovoltaic roof

ArcelorMittal has joined forces with complete residential solutions manufacturer BP2 to supply low carbon steel for BP2's latest product, the SOLROOF integrated solar roof.

BP2's FIT VOLT integrated solar panels (SOLROOF system components) will be manufactured exclusively from recycled and renewable energy produced XCarb® steel, which is produced using a minimum of 75% scrap steel and 100% renewable energy.

The official start of cooperation took place during BAU - the world fair for architecture, materials and systems.

Speaking at an event organized on this occasion, BP2 CEO Mariusz Łach said: "We have chosen ArcelorMittal as our steel supplier for all photovoltaic panels, appreciating the high quality of XCarb® steel, recycled and produced using renewable energy, and the company's leading position in decarbonization steel industry.

Speaking at BAU, Tomasz Plaskura, Sales and Marketing Director for Eastern Europe, ArcelorMittal Europe – Flat Products, said: “It is an honor to support our long-term partner BP2 in its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions in the supply chain by supplying recycled XCarb® steel and produced using renewable energy. This is a very important example of the role of low carbon steel in creating the renewable energy infrastructure that is essential both on a European and global scale.”

Recycled XCarb® steel produced using renewable energy and SOLROOF

SOLROOF is an innovative photovoltaic system developed in response to the growing demand for clean energy. It is fully integrated with the modular roof covering and, thanks to patented solutions, allows for unique roof aesthetics and the use of various forms and shapes that are not possible using a traditional photovoltaic installation.

Aesthetics is combined with innovative technology and lightness of integrated SOLROOF photovoltaic panels. This is an alternative solution to heavy photovoltaic panels, with their visible mounting structure and cabling used in standard solutions. When designing the SOLROOF system, the manufacturer aimed to reduce the amount of plastics as much as possible, in line with the needs of the environment.

Recycled and produced using renewable energy, XCarb® steel and other materials used in the SOLROOF system not only have a lower impact on the environment, but are also fully recyclable, giving a second life to subsequent products. XCarb® flat steel, recycled and produced using renewable energy, is manufactured at ArcelorMittal's plant in Sestao, Spain, and shipped to other European plants for organic coatings.

Cooperation with ArcelorMittal

The partnership with ArcelorMittal dates back to the beginnings of the BP2 group's existence on the market. ArcelorMittal supplied BP2 with a wide range of products, such as coated and galvanized sheets from leading steelworks, including: Eisenhüttenstadt (Germany), Ghent (Belgium), Kraków and Świętochłowice (Poland). Large orders require appropriate communication, and in order to ensure a smooth flow of information between BP2 and ArcelorMittal, especially in the field of document transfer, we use the latest solutions, including: EDI (Electronic Document Interchange) technology.
