Declaration by ArcelorMittal Poland concerning the exclusion of the Kraków blast furnace

ArcelorMittal Poland categorically denies the speculations which have appeared in the public domain in the past few days, claiming that the temporary idling of the blast furnace in Kraków is to take place on October 25. The company’s Board of Directors has not taken any decisions in this respect.

Unfortunately, this false information is a source of negative emotions among our employees and customers. Thus, as the CEO, I would like to emphasise, with all strength and responsibility, that no decision regarding the date of a potential standstill has been taken. As we have declared before, we are closely monitoring the market situation. Currently we are running three blast furnaces – two in Dąbrowa Górnicza and one in Kraków. We have taken exceptional measures in order to adjust our production levels to low demand and as for now those actions are sufficient
– comments Geert Verbeeck, CEO and chairman of the board at ArcelorMittal Poland.
