The device, worth PLN 125 thousand, was donated to the hospital by ArcelorMittal’s Kraków unit and the Steelworks Foundation for Health Care. This equipment will significantly improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment of children and adults.
ArcelorMittal unit in Kraków has been supporting the Stefan Żeromski Specialist Hospital in Nowa Huta for some time now. Over the last ten years, it has spent a total of PLN 200 thousand for different purposes, such as the purchase of a diode laser with a slit lamp for the ophthalmic ward and the installation of a surveillance system in the hospital building.
- With the use of new equipment, we will be able to diagnose numerous pathologies within the vitreous, retina and optic nerves - says Małgorzata Woś, head of Ophthalmology Department in Żeromski hospital.- Health is invaluable, therefore one of our goals as a socially responsible company is to support projects related to this area. S. Żeromski hospital was the first medical facility for the residents of Nowa Huta and employees of the plant, so we try to support the needs of this hospital, where residents of Kraków including our employees are cured. We know that modern equipment allows to save health and often life, so we are happy that we could contribute to the modernization of the Ophthalmology Department, which both adults and children will use - says Magdalena Kuśmierz from the ArcelorMittal Poland Business Responsibility Office. The purchase of ophthalmic ultrasound allowed to raise the standard of services. - For over 25 years, the steelworks foundation has been actively supporting employees, but it is also in constant contact with health facilities, including the Żeromski hospital. In this hospital, which is located in Nowa Huta, employees of ArcelorMittal Poland and subsidiaries are cured. We see the effects of buying new equipment, and the diagnostics is at a really high level - emphasizes Krzysztof Stypuła, President of the Hutnicza Fundacja Ochrony Zdrowia i Pomocy Społecznej.
