ArcelorMittal opens a modern training center for its employees in Poland

On April 2, ArcelorMittal Poland has opened a modern training centre for employees in its Dąbrowa Górnicza unit, in presence of human resources council representatives.

All the 14,000 employees of the company in Poland will be able to use it. Poland is the eighth country in which ArcelorMittal University established a campus, after Luxembourg, Spain, South Africa, Canada, Brazil, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. “The development of our employees is one of our priorities. This is why we have created a fully equipped centre that will significantly facilitate the organisation and conduct of a comprehensive range of trainings. Employees from both ArcelorMittal Poland and its subsidiaries will have access to it, but also those working in our distribution and sales segment,” explains Geert Verbeeck, CEO of ArcelorMittal Poland. “However the most important point is that, thanks to this campus, we will be able to consolidate and systematise our training programmes. The tools available within ArcelorMittal University will allow us to better meet the expectations of our employees in the field of development,” he adds.

It will be possible thanks to modern solutions, such as the "room of creativity", a room dedicated to health and safety exercises and virtual reality. The time between classes can be spent in a cozily arranged recreation area. “Last year at ArcelorMittal Poland we have completed over 2,000 trainings covering 126 thematic ranges,” informs Monika Roznerska, human resources director at ArcelorMittal Poland. Each employee devoted an average of 32 hours a year to train themselves and improve their skills. “With such a scale of action, we sometimes struggled with the lack of adequate space or equipment. I am very happy that the new ArcelorMittal University campus will completely solve these problems,” she adds.

The ceremonial opening of the facility took place in presence of eminent guests, representatives of local government and academic personalities, in particular from the universities with which ArcelorMittal Poland co-operates on a daily basis.
