ArcelorMittal Poland handed to students lab equipment

Test tubes, flask, scales were handed over to students of primary school in Dąbrowa Górnicza. On the occasion of Chemist Day, ArcelorMittal Poland handed over 350 items of lab equipment to the primary school, which found it very useful. Thanks to the equipment from one of the laboratory at ArcelorMittal Poland which was closed, students will carry out experiments during chemistry lessons.

Due to changes of the last educational reform, we had to reactivate chemistry lab for students. Equipping such a lab is always expensive. There are much more expenses connected to these reform changes. First we bought a special cabinet to store chemical reagents, but we missed glassware – says Lidia Bancerz,  headmaster of primary school. There are 620 students at our school, that is why it makes us happy that thanks to ArcelorMittal Poland support we can ensure our students good learning conditions – she adds.

The request from school came at the same time when the lab was being cleaned out of the equipment. Test tubes, flasks, scales otherwise would have to be utilized but thanks to this initiative they received a second life.

- Employees of power plant like helping, in this case we could support a very noble initiative – support primary school, which was to create such lab from scratch. Additionally if glassware will improve the quality of education of students it will be a win-win situation. Who knows maybe someday one of the students will join us in future- says Gabriel Gilis, head of energy at ArcelorMittal Poland.

- It is not a first time when ArcelorMittal is handing over equipment to schools in order to make the standard of the lab higher. Last year the company handed tools and equipment for the purpose of vocational courses organized by Technical School in Dąbrowa Górnicza. This year apart from lab equipment, the company handed over as well tools to Vocational School in Kraków. Moreover used IT equipment was handed over to schools, kindergartens, culture institutions in Dabrowa Górnicza, Zdzieszowice, Bytom, Strzelce Opolskie, Slawków – enumerates Magdalena Kuśmierz from Corporate Responsibility Office.
