The metallurgical concern "takes under its wings" students of technical schools

ArcelorMittal Poland, the largest producer of steel and coke in Poland, has taken patronage over the electricians' class at the Electrical School Complex No. 2 in Krakow and at the Technical Scientific Works in Dąbrowa Górnicza. As part of the cooperation, the company will provide students with mentoring support and preparation for work. The school, on the other hand, will gain a transfer of knowledge from practitioners and funding in the amount of PLN 60,000 to equip the workshops.

An electrician is currently among the so-called "shortage professions" in Poland. According to the Occupational Barometer published by the Provincial Labour Office in Krakow, a clear shortage of candidates in this profession is forecast in almost every province. In order to meet the needs of the market, ArcelorMittal Poland will be involved in teaching young people at school from this school year (2024/2025). In Dąbrowa Technical Scientific Works, the company takes patronage of two classes with an electrical technician profile – the third and fourth, and in the Electrical School Complex No. 3 in Krakow it will be the third class.

- We know how valuable practical knowledge is and we want to pass it on to young people, while popularizing this profession. Electricians have a future ahead of them, which can be seen in the huge demand for work in this area. We will show young people that it is worth learning this craft, because it means secure employment and an interesting profession ," explains Karolina Muza-Adamiec, People & Culture manager at ArcelorMittal Poland.

Internships, scholarships, new equipment

As part of the cooperation, the largest metallurgical company in Poland offers the transfer of knowledge from practitioners who will participate in classes - at guest lectures. In addition, students will undergo internships at metallurgical plants to learn about the industrial environment and see what the work of local electricians looks like on a daily basis. They will be under the care of experienced mentors to make the most of their time during the internship. To further motivate future electricians, ArcelorMittal Poland will fund scholarships for good academic results and award financial prizes for commitment during internships.
