Santa's sleigh full of gifts thanks to ArcelorMittal Poland

Every child is waiting for this day the whole year – for them a meeting with Santa Claus is a unique experience. And is not just about the presents. Gifts are secondary. This magical time is about sharing the good, positive energy, kindness and smiles. Just like every year ArcelorMittal Poland supports St. Nicholas’ Day in the cities where our plants are located. Thanks to this initiative, smiles appeared on faces of many children and seniors.

We supported two events in Krakow, one organized by the Krakow’s District XVI Bieńczyce Council and Board took place in Janusz Korczak Youth Culture Centre in Krakow, Kalinowe housing estate. Children from the Bieńczyce district schools (6 selected children from every school) were presented with more than 100 boxes full of sweets, and teddy bears for the youngest of them.

Pupils from the Janusz Korczak Youth Culture Centre created a wonderful atmosphere and performances during two meetings with Santa Claus. The first one was dedicated to the youngest children and the second for older ones.

Since many years now, ArcelorMittal Poland also supports other initiative in Krakow – the Łuczanowicki Santas Jamboree. In Łuczanowice Santa Claus visited not only children, but also seniors, who are often alone, with illness and with disabilities. The Association of Friends of Łuczanowice delivered more than 100 Christmas bags with presents and essentials. They have handed over presents for children from the Nowa Huta district, during the meeting in the Aneks Club by of the Centre of Culture in Krakow.

Santa Claus with his bag of Christmas gifts from ArcelorMittal Poland did not forget to also visit Zdzieszowice. Volunteers from our coke plant, representatives of “Kadra” Labour Union from Zdzieszowice and from the Pszczółka Maja Association surprised children in the orphanage in Strzegów. They arrived with a van bursting at the seams full of gifts, including toys collected by volunteers during the “Share your toys with others” action, cosmetics, bedclothes and a TV bought by the “Kadra” Labour Union.

Employees of ArcelorMittal Poland’s Unit in Zdzieszowice founded additionally for every child from the facility 25 bags full of sweets. The visitors were warmly welcomed and received the best gift –smiles and joy of happy children!

Also, in Zdzieszowice a unique Christmas meeting took place, focused on ecology and attended by eco-Santa Claus, who at the Osiedle Stary housing estate visited the new educational path for the youngest named “Decomposition from waste”. 60 children participated in environmental workshops organized by the “Clean Region” Intercommunal Association and Marek Skóra, volunteer from ArcelorMittal Poland. Children received small gifts funded by ArcelorMittal Poland and Municipality and the Communal Office of Zdzieszowice, and sweets sponsored by the Osiedlok Association.

Christmas atmosphere was also felt in Świętochłowice, Bytom and Chorzów. Volunteers from Świętochłowice, among which were many employees from ArcelorMittal Poland, who performed a play “Waiting for Santa Claus”, bringing joy to children from the integrated kindergarten in Bytom and on the market squares in Świętochłowice and Chorzów. This year Santa didn’t forget about anyone.
